Why Steam Hay?

Steaming Hay removes dust, kills fungal spores, bacteria and mites

Steaming retains essential nutrients vital for your horse's health and performance

Why steam hay......

Steaming is the healthy alternative to soaking. For the same reason you steam your vegetables at home rather than boil all the nutrients out of them. When you soak hay you are literally washing all the goodness and nutritional value down the drain. Steaming hay removes dust, bacterial spores and fungus whilst retaining the vital minerals that wash away when soaking. If you soak your hay because your horse coughs or for a breathing condition, then steaming is a healthier alternative. Owners steam their hay because their horse can't take haylage, or they never know what the next deliver of hay is going to be like! Steaming tempts even the fussiest of eaters giving you peace of mind that your equine is happily munching away in his stable.

Running costs........

Electricity averages at 15p per Kw hour. Our hay steamer has a 2.3kw heating element so costs around 30p an hour to run. Check your bill for rates in your area but steaming is cheaper than using gallons of water.

How it works......

The hay steamer is a smartly branded wheelie bin available in 3 sizes. It’s easy to move around and the steam generator packs neatly away inside. The steam generator is manufactured for domestic use so adheres to the strictest safety standards. It comes supplied with a 15/30/60 minute countdown timer plug so you can choose how long to set it for depending on how much hay and what size unit you are using. Our hay steamers are a low pressure system so it helps to rotate the haynets half way through your steam cycle to ensure the steam penetrates the hay evenly. The steam generator attaches to the bottom of the hay container by a specially engineered push on/pull off safety connector. Inside there is a steamer plate which emits the steam evenly up through the height of the container and a plugged drainage hole to rinse and drain the inside of the bin. Freshly steamed hay smells wonderful and will tempt even the fussiest of eaters. It can be fed immediately or can be used the following day but must be used within 24 hours.

The Steam'n'Easy Hay Steamer has proven to be an effective alternative to soaking hay.

Priced so everyone has the chance to own this economical hay steamer.
